Summer is officially coming to an end, so I think it is finally time for a beach post. I kicked off summer 2015 with an all-inclusive vacation to Cancun, Mexico with my friends. We had a blast!
Where We Stayed: Grand Park Royal Cancun Caribe
We got an amazing deal through a local travel agent– it was about $800 for 6 days (the price includes your flight, hotel, and unlimited food and drink). The resort was beautiful: very clean, spacious, and had plenty of swim-up bars (a necessity for my vacation group), plus it was located in a perfect spot along the hotel strip.
Where We Ate: Numerous on-site restaurants.
The restaurants were all part of the all-inclusive package–we ate at the Italian, Japanese, and Mexican restaurants, all of which require reservations a few days in advance. On the nights we did not have reservations we ate at the buffet which had a new theme every night. The buffet always had a large variety of options and included appetizers, main entrees, and dessert. Every morning you had the option of eating at the buffet or at a restaurant (the Mexican restaurant doubled as a breakfast venue), my friends and I nicknamed the breakfast restaurant as “The Waffle House”; they had insanely delicious waffles. And French toast. And…we all ordered both dishes the mornings we went there, no shame.
Shifting gears here. I do not consider myself a daredevil or a frequent risk taker, but on this trip I began to conquer some of my personal fears. One of my fears is swimming in the ocean/sea. I know that sounds silly, but I was terrified to be in water that goes above my ankles. I think I finally “swam” in the ocean on our last day.
We decided to do something adventurous halfway through the week and went on a zip-lining/cave excursion. It was the most stressful, yet exhilarating experience of my life. The zip-lining consisted of 8 different zip-lines, and they all took a certain amount of time to complete. Zip-lining was cool because you can go on with a partner–I don’t think I would have been able to go all by myself. Afterwards we drove these Jeep-like vehicles through the caves, followed by swimming through a water portion of the caves.
And finally, this wouldn’t be a fashion blog if I didn’t mention outfits. The one evening my entire group unintentionally color coordinated by room (kind of). It.Was.Awesome.
